Founded in 2010, Integrated Eco Strategy (IES) supports project teams as they pursue the world’s most challenging green building design standards, by facilitating sustainable and regenerative building design, renovation and construction. The company is recognized as a pioneer in helping project teams create Full Living buildings. To efficiently navigate and attain the Living Building Challenge’s Materials Petal, arguably the most rigorous LBC facet, IES has developed an innovative, industry-leading approach to researching and classifying healthy building materials.

IES has managed or is currently working on the green aspects of projects from 1,000 to 500,000 square feet, including the Williams College Environmental Center, Hampshire College’s R.W. Kern Center, Hitchcock Center for the Environment and Yale Divinity School campus. Clients include architecture and engineering firms, institutions of higher education and not-for-profit organizations.

To facilitate materials compliance, IES created Red2Green (R2G), a comprehensive platform and database for product evaluation, selection and management that dramatically reduces the time and effort required to pursue LBC materials certification. IES has partnered with the International Living Future Institute (ILFI), which administers the LBC program, and ILFI endorses R2G to simplify the materials selection process for Living Buildings. R2G is currently in use by project teams nationwide.

Core Services:

Comprehensive Living Building Challenge Support: IES has or is currently providing sustainability consulting on 11 projects pursuing (or inspired by) LBC certification. IES provides product Red List compliance research; integrative design consulting, including analysis of net zero energy and water strategy; coordination of the required documentation for certification; and close client collaboration to plan successful building operations.

LBC Material/Product Research: IES’ team of experienced Healthy Building Materials Specialists provide research via our proprietary healthy materials database: Red2Green (R2G). R2G currently contains nearly 11,000 products from more than 2,700 manufacturers, researched for consideration in 43 completed and ongoing LBC projects. These projects comprise a materials budget of over $585 million.

Services include energy efficiency and renewable energy assessments, including solar thermal and electricity and wind; sustainability documentation, including RFPs, MoUs, contracts and master leases; workshops, planning charrettes, presentations and lectures; and sustainability communications services, including project narratives, news releases and public relations support.
