NORTH ADAMS, MA—Matt Root has been named senior project manager for Integrated Eco Strategy (IES), a consulting firm facilitating sustainable and regenerative building design, renovation and construction. In his new position, Root will manage healthy materials and energy related projects in the Boston region, as well as develop new projects, consult with clients and represent IES at regional and national conferences.

Root comes to IES from CLEAResult, an energy efficiency consulting firm, where he led a multi-disciplinary team of mechanical engineers, building-enclosure experts and building scientists. His experience includes serving as a Home Energy Rating System rater and then as a LEED for Homes Quality Assurance Designee.

Root is an active member in the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association community, serving as co-vice chair and then conference chair for the BuildingEnergy Conference in 2014 and 2015. He earned Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in mechanical engineering from Brown University.

“We see exciting growth opportunities for our company in urban areas,” said Charley Stevenson, IES owner and principal. “We are pleased to have Matt join our team as an experienced project leader who can be at the forefront of that effort.”

Root lives in Concord with his wife, Candace, and three sons, and is currently going through the experience of implementing a partial deep energy retrofit on his own home.
