The Materially Better Building™ affirms the use of healthier construction materials and products to enhance indoor air quality; help protect worker, visitor and occupant health and safety; and advance social justice principles.
The Materially Better process employs the industry’s leading building product ingredient screen—the Living Building Challenge (LBC) Red List—to evaluate building materials and product types. Materials are selected from more than 20,000 researched and evaluated products from over 5,000 manufacturers, with their use verified and documented. To date, this effort has achieved more than three million square feet of healthier materials construction and renovation in the United States and Canada.
